Monster Band/Monster Choir!March 25th, 2010We have been invited to participate in Monster Band/Choir this year! We will combine forces with 8 other "A" and "B" schools in the northern part of our region to create one giant band and one giant choir. This is a great opportunity for students to experience being part of a large ensemble, which isn't always possible in a school of our size We will rehearse all day with a guest conductor, and put on the performance that evening for the public in Tonasket. The concert will be at Tonasket H.S., and there will be a small gate fee (last year it was $2, but I don't know if it's changing) which will help support music education in this region. . I encourage everyone to go and support our ensembles in this endeavour. It should be an awesome concert from both groups! Kids who are in both band and choir will need to choose which ensemble to work with (although they can still get band credit if they choose choir).
Logistics for studentsHere's the plan: First of all, please do your part to prepare your music. The conductor will only have a few hours that day to polish the music for performance. They will not have time to teach basic notes and rhythms to individual students. Please be ready. Please bring your performance uniform with you for the evening performance. Band: Dress clothes in the colors of black, white, and maroon. Please, no jeans or T-shirts. Guys, a tie would be nice. Ladies, make sure any dresses/skirts come below the knee (we will be on a stage). Choir: Black pants or a black dress with black shoes. We will wear our choir robes. Here's the tentative schedule: 7:15-Depart LRHS, stop in Nespelem 8:45 arrive at Tonasket HS, registration 9:00 Begin Rehearsal with guest conductors 12:15 Lunch. Please pack a sack lunch, as we may not have enough time to leave campus and return for afternoon rehearsal. 12:45 Afternoon rehearsals, which include dress rehearsals in the performance venue. 4:45 End rehearsals, dinner. A big thank you to the Omak Music Boosters for providing dinner for us! 6:00 Monster Performances! 7:00 Depart Tonasket 8:30 Return to LR (and stop in Nespelem). This is a long day, so please be prepared. Please, I need chaperones for this event. Students will be with 2 different ensembles in 2 different rooms, so I can't be with every student all the time. If I could get a parent to "adopt" each group for the day, then I can be assured that, if there's a problem, then the student will always have someone close to turn to for help. Thank You.
