5th/6th grade band

We have gone back to a schedule resembling last year. I liked the small group settings, but, unfortunately, 1 day per week wasn't enough time to practice necessary skills. Here is the schedule:

Monday/Thursday-6th grade

Tuesday/Friday-5th grade

Wednesday-necessary small group pull-outs

Remember, with only 2 days per week of class time, it is important for your child to practice at home in order to keep up his/her skills.

Information about instruments and fees:

Your child will need an instrument and book for band. Instruments are available for rental ($50/year) and books will be available for purchase from the office ($8/$12 for percussionists). The book is called Accent on Achievement and is also available from any music store as well as the website www.jwpepper.com. 5th grade percussionists need to rent a bell kit from the school and 6th-8th grade percussionists will pay a $20 equipment fee for equipment provided for their use. All fees are payable to the office (I don't touch money).

7th/8th Grade Band (everyday except Wacky Wednesday 1:54-2:30)

Songs: Star Wars, Symphony #2, Aztec Celebration, Great Escape, American Cameos

Skills: Chromatic Scale, Pyramid Balance

Test Thursday, 1-30 on the Chromatic Scale

A note about playing tests: If your child gets less than an A on their test (wasn't as prepared as they thought, absent, bad hair day, whatever), they may retake them and improve their score. However, it is their responsibility to come to me for a re-take.
