Week of 1-25
Pentatonic Scales & inversions. Writing Pentatonic
Melodies
This Friday (and every Friday), you will teach the class
a song. Be prepared!
Remember, practice a little each day to get maximum benefit.
You will develop finger strength and muscle memory faster that way. I
know for everyone in the class, at least some of the concepts
are new. Make sure you practice them so you can master them. If you scored
less than 14/15 on any playing test, you may retake for a 14, but it is
your responsibility to prepare and come to me to do it.
For maximum practice success:
1. Isolate the problem
2. Slow the tempo down
3. Figure out rhythms, then notes, then articulations
4. For yourself to play in time- even if it's
1/4 of the speed of the song or slower.
5. Speed it up when you have it mastered in the slower
speed.
