August 2008 WASL TESTING: Registration for the August WASL is from June 9-27.

This is for any 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th graders. The testing dates are (August 11-14).  9th graders are able to take the August WASL test this year, this is new. 

In grades 10-12 any one who needs to pass one or more of the reading, writing and math WASLS should consider taking them in August, especially 11th graders.   Science is not yet a graduation requirement, it will not be given in August.  Registration and testing locations can be found at www.k12.wa.us/waslregistration  or by calling 866-400-WASL (9275). 

You can also register by calling Mrs. Tracy, Assistant Assessment Co-coordinator, at the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School, she will register for you.  633-1520

Students remember it is your responsibility to take care of registration for summer WASL.

 

Do you enjoy the art of cooking and wish to sharpen your culinary skills?  SHARP Kids is offering a cooking class for one week in July for students entering 9th – 12th grade.  Iron Chef, modeled after the hugely popular Food Network program, will be held in LRHS Home Economics Room, July 28-July 31 (Monday thru Thursday) from 9:00 am – 12:00.  Students will participate in three days of Culinary Boot Camp preparing for battle with a secret ingredient on the last day.  Who will reign supreme?  A sack breakfast and lunch will be provided each day of Iron Chef.  Registration for this class (only $20 for a week of preparing incredible culinary masterpieces) will be tonight (Wednesday) at the District Office from 5:00 – 6:30.  There are 15 openings.  Bring a friend and have a great week in July in the kitchen!

 

Next Years Seniors!- Work in the Summer Rocks! Elementary program for the month of July and receive 40 hours of volunteer service time and then be paid for the remaining 40 hours. You will be working with elementary students in an exciting program titled, “Traveling the World Page by Page”. Stories, activities and field trips are part of the program and you will be served breakfast and lunch each day. Hours of work are 8:00 to 1:00 pm Monday through Thursday with field trips on Fridays. The program runs from July 7th through August 1st.  If you are the person for this position please call 633-3033 and talk to Jeannette or Linda.
